Democra is a website I developed a few years ago as a personal project, which serves to share and read news working differently from other social networks. On Democra, users can share news and rate it using five emojis that represent emotions; from anger to admiration.

News with the most votes stays at the top, so users can easily see the most important news from the last 24 hours, week, month, year, or from all of Democra, thanks to its filters. Other filters can be applied to choose different categories.

There are no user comments! However, through the ratings, users can see a histogram at a statistical level with the ratings grouped by regions, all displayed clearly and visually through the colors of the same emojis. Colors convey quick information about what most users think!

The goal of Democra is to help build fairer democracies through technology, facilitating visibility of when people are dissatisfied or satisfied with political decisions that affect us all. The idea is simple: it is not the website that decides which news is important, but the users. The more people rate a piece of news, the higher the news will be. Thus, what matters most to society is observable by everyone naturally.

PROFIT AND LOSS REPORT GENERATION IN GOOGLE SHEETS WITH APPS SCRIPT

This video shows an example of how we can generate a Profit and Loss report using Google Sheets and leveraging the Apps Script programming environment. This report is generated after daily completion of different financial information that is fed through a main sheet, with certain automations, which serves to maintain daily control of income and expenses that directly affect the business's cash flow and profitability.

At the same time, it serves to maintain exhaustive control of cash and bank balances, monitoring every cent of the business in a pragmatic and simple way. From here, the possibilities for generating different types of reports are almost infinite, where creativity and imagination are the only limitations.

The power of these tools is enormous for both freelancers and SMEs that want to automate processes while minimizing the possibility of human errors, as well as making better use and control of all the information managed by the company. Even in large companies, they remain an excellent option for handling reports that more generalist software cannot offer due to lacking certain customization for the client.
